Pads are easy to change.
Braking CM55 or EBC are generally recommended. There are Gold Fren pads that are much cheaper but don't give quite as good braking though supposedly last just as well.

Are Lyndall Gold pads available in the UK? Lots of badwebbers love 'em, this side of the pond.

Best giving them a call or something as their website is set up to charge you £10 postage for them.
