Exhaust is standard.
So I continue to try to undo the hex bolt, not the nut on the other side then?
Counterclockwise to loosen?

Yep, anti clockwise to undo.

Might be worth giving Baz a ring at Lightning Services as they put it together (think it was actually Thorkill the Tall on this forum) to see if they did anything special that is giving you trouble.

Bolt now out, local bike shop unable to do so 'specialist' came to house & did it.
Now, how do I keep the new nut 'captive' whilst I screw in the bolt from the other side as it keeps pushing it out as I screw it in....the recess for the shoulders of the bolt aren't that proud to hold it... Bit of araldite? :?

I just hold the nut in place with a screw driver and simultaniously feed the bolt in using a hex bar. After you have slid the new strap through the bracket that is. The clamp and nut to the strap go on the left side of the bike. ;)

I may have used my fingers and probably sat on the floor under the bike while it was on a paddock stand, but it's been a while since that bracket came off mine. Welcome to Buell ownership. :?

Treat new bolt with copper grease and do not overtighten straps. ;)

It just occured to me as I was switching off the PC that I would have had the exhaust can removed before I touched that front bracket, and that's a whole other ball game unless you are set up for doing more work (read how to section end to end). This may be why others are keeping quiet now. :?

Did you get the strap in ok just by removing the bolt? With the can still in place you may be able to hold nut in place by a blob of blue tack on the end of a screw driver while you insert bolt. Patience and practice! ;)

Yes, bolt taken completely out, bracket eased down from block to give enough space to get the strap in. Just need to get the nut on the bolt as bolt goes in hole easily enough, just keeps pushing the nut out of the recess as I turn the hex bolt....as you say, patience 8-)

Off to Brands for a trackday tomorrow so I'll keep the chin fairing off so I can keep an eye on it all for now. Looks like a short day as rain forecast pm which is no god for the power one / rennesport pairing I've just put on :oooops:

Well done! As you probably gathered, removing the rear straps can involve having to slacken the belt to remove the belt tensioner, unless like some of us you've had the rear straps reversed for quick access and pipe swaps! ;)
