In light of the fact that quite a few people look like they will have problems getting to Sproutfest, I have contacted the hotel with regard to their cancellation policy, unfortunately any cancelled food orders or room cancelations after this afternoon will be charged for :(

They are saying that although the main roads in the area are OK, the back roads are very icy, & as all those who have attended before will know, the hotel is in a little village & the carpark is up a steep slope

I have just looked at the weather forecast & it shows another large swage of snow crossing the country from the northwest tomorrow evening.

The hotel have given us the option to cancel the whole event & rebook for another date without incurring any cost. Regretfully after discussing with Digger & Ash I have come to the decision that this is probably the best thing to do in the circumstances.

To say I am gutted is an understatement, & I know that Buelligans are a tenacious lot but realistically I don't want to be responsible for people getting stuck, having accidents or ending up with a bill from the hotel & nothing to show for it, so sadly I have to tell you that for the first time ever I am going to have to cancel Sproutfest :(

As soon as I can organise a new date I'll let you know.

Just to echo what Alison has said, its not worth the risk to everyone just for an evening out. We can and WILL rebook shortly after Christmas, as soon as the hotel gives us a date when all rooms are available.

This will also give those that had to cancel another opportunity to attend. Sorry for this but as has been said, the potential for someone having an accident is far to great to justify going ahead this weekend.

Cheers folks

Sad, but safety has to come first.

Anyone want to buy a job lot of party poppers - going cheap?

Alison

Terrible shame, especially given you not inconsiderble efforts, but very good call.

Good of the hotel too really. But I expect they realised that they make more from the bar :oooops: if we are there than just charging us for not turning up - far from stupid!

:( but 8-) in a delayed pleasure sort of way.

Gutted, but more than understand and thank you so Much Alison for sorting this out for us and giving us the opportunity to do it again in the new year.

The roads here are dreadful and the forecast is appalling with -6 and freezing fog.

Take care out there everyone and see you in the New Year

V xx

It'll give you chance to take 'em back, Dave, & swap 'em for ones that go "pop" ... :P

It was with exceptionally heavy heart that I put on my rarely-used sensible head to talk to Matron, because I know we'd have all made superhuman efforts to get there.

See you all for the re-arranged gig, I'll keep your trophies polished for you 8-)

DOH!!! I have well over 200 party poppers that are just itching to "do their thing" too.

Probably a good call though considering the depth of snow we have in Hampshire at the moment although my sister reckons it isn't too bad in Rugby.

What a shame although totally understandable. See everyone in the New Year though ;). Just to echo everyone else I dont think anyone would have slept easily if any one of us had come to even minor harm attempting to make the journey.

Sooooooooo ......... Is it New Year yet? Is it New Year yet? Is it New Year yet? :hehe: :hehe:
