Ideally I'd want to keep the dash and see if I can somehow fit the light/fairing

Hmm... Some research is necessary.

So, poking about, looks like I'll need the headlight, fairing and headlight/fairing brackets that attaches to the top of the fork tubes.

I'll have to have some kind of support/bracket made up for the dash and horn...

But essentially... Kinda do-able

So I think I'm going to investigate keeping the whole dash unit, but replacing the twin lights with a single 7" one and then investigate having a custom fairing made or maybe even modding the stock one.

The alternative is junking the whole lot one buying X1/S1 speedo, tacho, top clamp, headlight, fairing, brackets, speedo corrector, re-installing the alarm, etc...

I think a new headlight and a custom fairing may be way cheaper and simpler... And more unique too

...and less of an issue for my insurance company

Watch this space. Photoshop mock-up coming soon.

Ok, so here's probably the simplest option... just trimming a stock fairing and replacing the headlight...

And in black...

It SHOULD only mean removing the double headlights, adding single headlight brackets attached to the forks behind/below the stock headlight unit frame (maybe a little cutting/fettling to allow them to fit) and then trimming a stock flyscreen to the shape of the headlight. Means I can keep all instruments, indicators, alarm position and so forth.

You're pretty good at all this photo fettling aren't you :yup:
The earlier version with the S1 fairing looks more "classic" but for the extra amount of work that requires your two later mods look pretty damned good too. :worthy:

Yeah I want to try and make the bike a much 'mine' as I can without making any mods that make it hard to go back to stock (in case I'm forced to sell in the future... hopefully not!) or give me problems with insurance.

I'll work on some more retro schemes and accessories too... maybe brushed 'bullet' indicators to give it a more retro feel to... hmm...

('clickety-click'...'clickety-click'...... 15 mins later...)

Something like this....

Retro scheme next...
