As no-one has mentioned it yet, I'll thank Sheepy for the pub quiz he organised....... great idea, shite questions!

Thanks for the positive comments folks, I'll have a go at another next year - I was going to do the Southern 100 but a quick check of the fixture dates last night reveals a diary clash - we've got visitors staying that week when the french lycra louts are due to pedal through the village

So it might be Armoy, Tandragee or somewhere completely different. Stand by for news 8-)

This is what I wrote on Facebook yesterday. As not everyone has surrendered to the dark side, I've copied it here:-

Well, it's just over 24 hours since I got home from Diggertours '13 and, at the moment I know how it feels to go 12 rounds with both the Klitschko brothers, one after the other! But I am so glad I went, and I had the best time ever! I was sick with nerves before I went and almost cancelled literally (inserted for you JCB) a hundred times, I was worried I might not even manage the 140 mile run from home to Newtonabbey, let alone three days of riding, two of race watching, 'Digger's surprise' and then, of course another 140 miles home! I feared that I would irritate with my lack of not just outright pace, but, more importantly, cornering speed. I was bothered that between simple fatigue and searing pain that I wouldn't be able to look after myself, let alone my bike. I'd never been away from home without my wife or one of my brothers to help with my personal care - just putting on a pair of socks can take up to half an hour.

I shouldn't have worried. Partly because, as Heather keeps telling me, I'm more capable than I think, but more importantly because I have some of the best people as friends a man can ever hope to have! I could name people personally, but in truth everyone of you helped in every way you could. Sometimes its the little things that matter as much as the big ones. However, it would be rude not to thank Digger for being the inspiration behind the whole thing and to Beef for all the help he gave me with my machine, without which I honestly couldn't have managed! Beef says this is just teamwork and, if that's so, then we have a team here that could take on the world! Thank you one and all for making the last week not only possible, but one of the best in my life! Roll on next year!!!

All I would add is that I feel rather better today physically, but still missing all my friends :D

Twas great to meet up with old friends and hopefully some ones. The week got off to a great start but by Tuesday morning the black dog was making himself comfy on my shoulder again. He got even comfier when I was hit with a 40 quid sorn fine on the STT but by Friday he was turning a lighter shade of pale thanks to getting my XT back and the company of a great bunch of friends. By Saturday he had all but gone only to hop on again when the XT suffered a flat and buell asist didn't know what a buell was. Big thanks to Adam and his trusty cohorts for getting me home, thank feck he took a wrong turn. Thanks to Digger for organising a brilliant week (most of which I missed) and his words of wisdom. Thanks to Eric for being Eric and unwittingly putting things into perspective and reminding how to tell black dog to feck off.

Finally as Jethro used to say 'Y'all come back now ya hear'.
