A friend asked me to help him out with his M2. He needs to get all new electrics. Don't ask me how, but the former owner has done something bad to them, and my friend asked me if I can redo the wires during the winter. Contact problems and such in the wires now fitted.

Now then, is it a very difficult job? Anyone done that before?

I was just thinkin that there can't be that much electrics in a M2. No fuel injections, exhaust gizmos or other neat gadgets that the younger ones have. Or am I just amazingly wrong and getting myself to a trouble far over my skills?

Advice, anyone??

I've never replaced a loom before, but if I was going to ?

On the assumtion the electrics are working and it's just poor connectors that are causing the problem then I would take the old loom off the bike and just copy it, wire for wire, but if the electrics are causing problems due to incorrect wiring.

then still take it off the bike and get yourself a manual and copy it from there, I would have thought the way to go.

either way it's still going to be a PITA, not much help I know but it may give you some to ponder

if you are going to make a new loom ?

First Label it all before taking it off the bike !!
AND take lots of digital pics from loads of angles , invaluable when you cant remember how a bit goes ...
take the old one and lay it on a large board , then you form a surround like a fence using nails around the old one ,this needs to be done around bends and forks in the loom , gives the overall shape, then remove the old and build the new one in the fence.

TRY to keep colours the same , and make all the tails longer than needed , its allways easier to cut a bit off than add it on.

good luck

Standard loom is crap, dont bother trying to copy it.
M2 electrics are very simple and a much better loom would be very easy to make.

This is what I waited. Thanks Maz!

I'll check the wiring diagram again and then decide what to do with it...

Thanks everyone!
