Hi new here , I had a xb12x ullyesse did 20000 miles on it !
Not bad usual bits fell off !

Now I've liked buell's , but needed a reliable bike in the past ,
now I'm richer ! ( I'm riding a fz1 ) my requirements are not so strict
( ps I'm a girlie !! )

I'm curious on a 1125r / cr .
How good or different are they from my fz1 / xb12x ?

I've ridden for 20+ yrs but still get confused !

How expensive to service ?
Reliable ?
What it's like to ride ?

Any special things too look out for ?

Dealer in Kent , is u/s !!
Thanks
derverla

I think with the demise of Buell it is even more importent now to pick a dealer that is going to look after you with any warranty and servicing issues, as i guess the ones who never liked Buells but were forced to look after them will soon abandon the owners.
I'd make sure as well it's got all recalls and updates sorted BEFORE taking delivery..there is still a lot of early 1125's stood in showrooms which an unknowing punter would think was a latest model unless in the know.
I know for a fact there is one in Lincoln HD at full price and hasn't even had the front brakeline recall done.
Never ridden one myself so can't comment on other things but would suggest you wouldn't go far wrong speaking to Steve at Blackbear as i guess they will remain the best dealer for you in the future.

Depends on what style of riding you prefer - although both models have a sporty riding position as standard there is a more upright handlebar kit available for the CR.

Problems ? On the 08s ( 1125R ) the clutch is liable to leak - the original design is not up to the job - there is an upgrade kit - X2086.1AM - it may even pay to insist that it is upgraded before accepting the bike - the exhaust is up to the usual standard and will rot after one British winter - insist on it being cam-coated first !
The last pain is the rear indicators - they can burn out - newer ones are better - but it can be an easy fix - either insist on the latest revision of the LED indicators or put your own bulb ones on. there are also two recalls - one for a gear oiling issue ( not all built were affected ) and one for a front brake line routing issue - ask for documented proof that they've been done or weren't neccessary. Some of the speedo consoles are also prone to misting up in colder/damper conditions.

On the 09s ( R & CR ) IIRC there is a recall on a cam chain follower, some engines will need to have it done. Also the clutch leak issue has happened on some bikes - but the indicators should be OK though.

If you purchase one also insist the the ECU ( engine management ) software is the latest one.

Hello Derverla,
I've owned my 1125R from new one of the first in the country etc, ..and other bullshit. It's a fantastic bike, the best bike I've ever the fortune of owning. I've had all the recall's done and now it's sweet, run in and amazing to ride. If you can get one cheap, go for it, if not and probably more sensible get a Blade

My instruments used to mist up and I couldn't see the display. Replaced under Warranty 8-) It's got a useless gear indicator display as well

I find a quick look in the mirror works to see if I'm in the right gear ...
