 Post subject: rear brakes on tuber

Will be swapping over to a cast swing arm and would like to know if there are better rear brakes to fit the 98 S1 or are they good enough ,thanks.

Never mind 'good enough', Buell rear brakes are the best I've ever come across; they do exactly what they're supposed to do 8-) I wish the Brembo on my Ducati was as good :twisted:

Pushing aside the indifference of the buell pedants

I stuffed a 4 piston brembo on the back. It can actually be used to stop!

I've always found the standard one on the X1 more than adequate ..........and even managed to lock the rear one day when a car pulled out in front of me.

Do a search. Metmachex brembo conversion, braided lines, and uprated discs to name a few.

Or you could just change the pads for some EBC's, replace the fluid and be done with it ;)

+ 1 = 4 pot - on a S1 is the dogs - I like a good back brake for a road bike.
